We can all recognize Ed Sheeran's soft voice from miles away. We never think it's someone else's. And I know we can all identify a Post Malone song by how depressing it can be. It's no question that the two of them both have incredible, and unique voices. But, what happens when you put the two together. "Wait you mean Ed Sheeran and Post Malone are collabing?" Haha, no. What I'm saying is, when you put the two of them together you get Dermot Kennedy. No, you don't get Ed Malone or Post Sheeran. You get Dermot Kennedy.
I came across this somewhat familiar voice while browsing and shuffling through Spotify. Instantly fascinated, I had to find out who this was. Kennedy, an Irish "songmaker" explores both extremes of emotion. He "draws inspiration from all the moments of brightness and darkness this world has to offer." I can't pin him down to a specific genre, but let's be real, I'm not really good at that anyway. I can definitely say he brings in an acoustic/folk/rock vibe. But that's pretty broad.
He has a Sheeran voice, with Malone's depression.
In my honest opinion, he has such a genuine and pure voice. Through his songs, you can hear his passion, his hurt, his joy. He brings you into the songs like no other artist does. The songs I have listened to show more of his hurt, yet they are incredibly beautiful.
If your interested in listening to him, I'd suggest starting with "Couldn't Tell"
I give Ed Sheeran and Post Malone's love child a 12/10. And he's cute too, what a bonus.
love always,
